Kathak Prarambh (the beginning)

Prarambh is an introduction dance class series to Kathak - an Indian Classical Dance Form, and the fundamental aspects of the art form, with a good balance of Theory and Practical. In these sessions you will be introduced to Taal, footwork patterns, hand gestures, spins, recitation etc. as you progress through the batches.

You will also learn the execution of dance compositions.

Term 3 will start in January 2025

Eligibility

Anyone from the age of 7 years and above, who loves to dance is welcome to join these classes.

No prior experience required, only need the passion to pursue this hobby seriously.

If you have prior experience of dance training, but have had a gap in training, you are welcome to rejoin via our classes!

Showcase

When you join the class, you get free entry to the Showcase Reel! What you learn, you show it off to the world!

Participation in Showcase Reel is optional, and if you are unsure in the beginning, you can confirm later!

Kathak Exam Details

Nrityam-The Kathak Studio offers formal examination up to Visharad (Graduation)in Kathak, with affiliation from an Indian university – Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.

Exams are Optional but highly recommended to all dancers.

  2. Praveshika-Pratham (Part 1) Elementary

  3. Praveshika-Purna (Part 2) Intermediate

  4. Madhyama-Pratham (Part 1) Pre-Diploma

  5. Madhyama-Purna (Part 2) Diploma

  6. Visharad-Pratham B.A. Part 1

  7. Visharad-Purna B.A. Part – 2 / Graduation

Final grading of Visharad is based on the total marks of level 6 plus total marks of level 7 put together.

Note: Students can appear for the exam only once a year. All exams up to Visharad are conducted in both the session, April - May and Nov - Dec.
